Elreg House is a safe, adapted environment for those living with dementia whilst still valuing each resident as an individual. Our aim is simple: to give our residents the best quality of life in their new home.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Information
Throughout this pandemic Elreg House has remained covid free, from our staff to our residents. Our cleaning procedures and our precautions have been second to none & unrivalled in the area.
We expect and encourage visits wherever possible, and do so in a risk-managed way.
Visiting is an integral part of care home life. It is vitally important for maintaining the health, wellbeing and quality of life of residents. Visiting is also crucial for family and friends to maintain contact and life-long relationships with their loved ones, and to contribute to their support and care.
There has been a recent update released on the 23rd December 2022 regarding rules for staff and visitors.
- Contact with relatives and friends is fundamental to care home residents’ health and wellbeing and visiting should be supported. There should not normally be any restrictions to visits into or out of the care home. The right to private and family life is a human right protected in law (Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights). In the event of an outbreak of COVID-19, each resident should (as a minimum) be able to have one visitor at a time inside the care home.
- Care homes should ask visitors to follow the same PPE recommendations as care workers, to ensure visits can happen safely, noting that additional requirements for face masks may be in place if the care setting is in an outbreak. This should be based on individual assessments, taking into account any distress caused to residents by use of PPE or detrimental impact on communication. Currently there is no requirement to wear masks.
- visits should take place in a room most practical and comfortable for the resident (for example, residents with dementia may be more comfortable in their own room with familiar belongings) and to allow for ventilation in the room.
- visitors should not enter the care home if they are feeling unwell, even if they have tested negative for COVID-19 and are fully vaccinated and have received their booster. Transmissible viruses such as flu, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and norovirus can be just as dangerous to care home residents as COVID-19. If visitors have any symptoms that suggest other transmissible viruses and infections, such as cough, high temperature, diarrhoea or vomiting, they should avoid the care home until at least 5 days after they feel better
- visitors who are not legally required to self-isolate are advised against visiting the care home (for 10 days) if they have been identified as a close contact of someone with COVID-19, unless absolutely necessary, even if they have been fully vaccinated. Where visits do occur, visitors should have received a negative lateral flow test result earlier in the day of their visit
- Elreg House was one of a select few care homes in Sussex that did not have one case of COVID throughout the pandemic and we were approached by CQC and the local authorities to help advise other care homes on infection control and risk management.

BOOK VISITWhy Choose Elreg House?
If your loved one is struggling to live alone, or it’s becoming difficult to keep on top of their care needs, it might be time to consider a specialist dementia care home. Elreg offer 24-hour care which can help ease the worry.
All our carers complete person centred and dementia training. This specialist training helps them to focus on the resident’s needs and choices first and their condition second. It encourages quality one-on-one time and provides support for activities tailored to keep the mind active. Elreg House has a specialist dementia activities coordinator who spends one to one time with all residents.
When a new resident comes to live at the home, the team write them a personalised care plan. They make getting to know the resident and their relatives a top priority. This helps carers to build a picture of how they’d like to be supported day-to-day, so they can create a personalised care plan. They find this is key to helping residents settle into their new home and live a happy and long life at Elreg House.
Mealtimes are an important part of daily life in Elreg House. The chefs carefully select a different menu for each day of the week, making sure residents enjoy a variety of home-cooked dishes. The chefs always use fresh ingredients to prepare delicious, nutritionally balanced meals throughout the day and night.
